Amir Salem researched the Egyptian migration history in Australia in order to document and preserve the experience of the pioneers of the Egyptian migration to Australia and to focus on the contribution of the Egyptian community to enrichment of Australia's economy, society and culture. Amir is a member of the Australian Egyptian Council Forum, the Ethnic Communities' Council of NSW, the Eastern Sydney Multicultural NSW Advisory Committee and the Waverley Council Multicultural Advisory Committee. He is concerned to revive the original cosmopolitanism of Egyptian society among the diverse ethnic communities that came to Australia from Egypt.
