In both Jewish and mainstream media, 'Jewish' stories are often really just Ashkenazi stories. What about Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews? What about black Jews, Asian Jews, biracial Jews, and others? Jews of colour are a growing population and an underrepresented one. Even when we do see stories about racially and ethnically diverse Jews in the media, it's usually someone else doing the writing. Sigal Samuel, a journalist whose family hails from India, Iraq and Morocco, will discuss strategies she's devised to address this representation gap, first at the Forward and now at the Atlantic.
